Voluum MCP

Voluum MCP allows you to connect AI agents that support the MCP protocol to Voluum. This enables the AI agent to take control over your Voluum data. The scope of access can be controlled between two modes:

  • Read-only (default)
  • Write (Opt-in)

MCP turns an MCP-enabled AI tool into a Voluum-aware agent. This is a no-code one-click solution that doesn't require any developer knowledge or support.

What is MCP?

MCP is the Model Context Protocol: an open standard that defines how an AI agents connect to outside systems and uses it. Think of it as the equivalent of "USB for AI". Before MCP, every AI tool needed a custom integration with every data source. With MCP, Voluum publishes one standard "MCP server" describing what data it exposes and what actions it supports, and any AI tool that speaks MCP can read and act on Voluum data immediately.

What are The Benefits of Using AI Agents with Voluum?

The benefits of using AI agents with Voluum are varied and are dictated by your particular case and AI agent's capabilities. The prime examples include:

  1. Automation: Schedule morning briefs and weekly digests, launch multiple campaigns with one prompts, adjust bidding strategies based on performance
  2. Analysis: Get performance overviews, tips, and suggestions, pinpoint well-performing placements and narrow down targeting options
  3. Cross-platform integration: Connect your ad platforms, data visualization platform, or communicator to orchestrate your workload across various platforms.

How Does the MCP Connection Work?

The architecture has three parties:

  1. The MCP server — software that Voluum runs. It exposes a list of "tools" (read campaign performance, list traffic sources, pause a campaign, write back a cost correction, etc.) plus the descriptions with corresponding parameters for each. The server enforces what the AI can and cannot do. The Voluum MCP server is available at the following address: https://mcp.voluum.com/mcp
  2. The MCP client — runs inside the AI tool a user chooses. It discovers what tools the server offers and lets the LLM call them.
  3. The user's AI account — the LLM itself. It receives the tool list, reasons about the user's question, and calls the tools when it needs Voluum data or wants to take an action.

Authentication is OAuth 2.0, so the user logs in with their Voluum credentials once and the AI gets a scoped token.

What AI Agents does Voluum support?

Voluum MCP can be connected to any MCP-enabled AI agents, such as:

Voluum MCP and Privacy

Note that giving your AI agent access to your Voluum data makes you subject to the AI tools T&C. This data may be analyzed by AI vendors located in various jurisdictions.

Voluum is only a data source, it is not responsible how your data is handled by the AI vendor. Voluum always respects data access settings (read or write) that you set when connecting an AI agent. However, when you give an agent access to your data, it is your and AI vendors responsibility what happens with that data.
