Twitter as a Traffic Source
Twitter is a social media platform that can display ads between user's posts. Running ads is possible with the redirect and direct methods of tracking. The following article describes how to configure tracking of Twitter-generated traffic with Voluum.
Tracking Twitter Traffic
Note that Twitter does not offer any dynamic tokens, so it is not able to pass any unique visit characteristics. However, you will still get some characteristics from Voluum, such as country or device type, that Voluum can fetch on its own.
Additionally, there is no possibility to pass conversion info from Voluum to Twitter, as Twitter does not support traffic source postback URL. Twitter offers a JavaScript pixel to track conversions, so the only option is to implement it on your "Thank You" page and report conversions to Voluum and Twitter in parallel.
Before You Start
Before you dive into the setup process, make sure you have the following things ready:
- An active Voluum account.
- An active Twitter Ads account with a valid payment method added. Note that there are some restrictions imposed by Twitter for new accounts, chief among themis the rule that each new account has a waiting period of 14 days before it is allowed to run ads.
- An offer, and, optionally, a landing page.
Once you have everything, you can proceed with the rest of the guide.
